Pastor Dave Dave Kennedy - Lead Pastor

Pastor Dave just can't get the church out of his life! He was raised as one of those infamous "preacher's kids". He "escaped" to college, but found God faithfully working in his life, calling him into full-time vocational ministry as a pastor himself. After teaching high school English for 5 years, he transplanted his family to northern Indiana, and in 1986 he graduated from Grace Theological Seminary with a Master's of Divinity degree.

In 20+ years of preaching, Pastor Dave has developed a simple teaching style of relating the Scriptures to our weekly lifestyles. He feels he is successful in communicating God's Word when the congregation - both young and old - grows in understanding the Scriptures and applying them to their lives. Pastor Dave's ministry companion is his wife, Nancy, who grew up with him in church youth group. They have been blessed by God with 3 girls, the youngest of whom is a sophomore at Christopher Newport University.

Hal Moser Hal Moser - Youth Ministries Coordinator [ Youth of Grace ]

God has given Hal a passion for the next generation and he does not like it when people say, "Youth are the future of the church." Citing numerous examples in the Bible, Hal believes that God delights in using people that the world does not consider ready and believes that our youth's potential for undivided and unrestrained devotion to Christ makes them the church's greatest asset - NOW!

After God opened Hal's eyes to his sin and need for a Savior in November of 1990, he made a decision to trust and follow Jesus Christ. Hal has lead several youth ministries, including AWANA, and has used his gifts to teach and disciple people from 3rd grade through adults. He holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Richmond and is currently enrolled in the Graduate school at Moody Bible Institute. Hal also serves on the Elder Council here at Community of Grace.

Hal has been married for 23 years to his best friend, Shelley, who is a nurse. They have two children. Their daughter, Jessica, is a senior at Liberty University majoring in Elementary Education. Their son, Nathan, is serving in the United States Marine Corp.

Raz Baboorian Raz Baboorian - Worship Leader
A series of God-driven events led Raz to end his days as an aspiring rock musician and begin his ministry as an instrument for God. Being a son of a priest allowed Raz to hear and see what a man of God did on a daily basis. While not necessarily following the doctrines of the Armenian Church in which he was raised, the realization that he was under God's love helped him through his turbulent youth.

Raz has been working in the IT field for the past 18 years while still dabbling with music and has enjoyed an involvement in the Community of Grace Worship Team for the past 3 years.

The backbone of his life is his wonderful wife Sandy, whom he met while living in Virginia Beach in 1990. Sandy is the true captain of the Baboorian ship which includes brothers Eric (14) and Brett (8).

John Smith John Smith - Administrative Assistant

John considers himself an unlikely candidate for full time Christian Ministry. Raised in a church-going home, he ran from God and his family in high school. The trip was long and hard, but God was faithfully watching over him. God used the bad choices John made to teach him about the emptiness and despair of life apart from Him and lovingly forgave John of his sin when he turned to Jesus Christ in faith in December of 2000.

John spent the next 7 years serving in The Good Samaritan Discipleship Program (first as a participant and later as the Assistant Program Director.) He attended and graduated from Community Bible Institute with a BA in Theology in 2005, the year after he met and married his wife, Sara. They have 2 children, Zachary (2) and Elaina (1).

John and Sara were brought providentially to Community of Grace in August of 2007. He is responsible for the day-to-day physical operations of the office and church building. You can usually find him in the office during the week and cleaning the church or helping the Worship Team on the weekends.

Elders
The Elder Council provides the spiritual oversight which God appointed to guide and grow His church in Christ's teaching. These men give support to the church staff and serve as a united mind in helping them to carry out their responsibilities. An elder believes God has called him to be a spiritual mentor to others. An elder, therefore, willingly serves as a model for the congregation which Christ has entrusted to his care. Guiding Scriptures are Acts 14:23; 1 Peter 5:1-4; 1 Timothy 3; Titus 1; Acts 20:28-31. CGC currently has five spiritually recognized elders.

Deacons
The Deacon Board serves the physical needs of the congregation so that the Elder Council can continue in the ministry of prayer and of the Word of God. A deacon is respected for spiritual wisdom and faithful service. The deacon has a sensitive ear to the congregation's needs. Scriptures which speak to this important ministry are Acts 6:1-6; 1 Timothy 3:8-13. CGC currently has three deacons.
